The BFA Mission
The stated mission of the British Franchise Association is:
“To provide an educational space and accreditations that are governed by our high standards and ethics.
We stand firm on doing things the right way. Everything has been created and approved to match our standards and ethics, from our advice to the accreditations and educational academy content.”
How we Became Accredited
To be a member of the Association, there is an accreditation process in which the applying company or individual must prove that they have aligned themselves with the standards and ethics of the BFA.
This is aimed primarily at the franchisor-franchisee relationships, and we aim to guide all franchisors in keeping this in mind.
The logo represents our membership of the Association, both giving us a voice at the table, and keeping us informed about current trends, best practices and any legal issues that franchisors need to be aware of.
The Ops Portal and Franchisors
At The Ops Portal, among the businesses we help, we help franchisors build their operations manual – an essential part of franchising their business.
The franchise agreement and the franchise operations manual work hand in hand, and franchisors must demonstrate that they have a manual as part of their application for membership.
The BFA membership levels require evidence from franchisors that they align with the BFA code of ethics and standards.
The agreement and manual are reviewed at each application for the next level. The expectation is that the franchisor can evidence change management for the manual since operating practices will inevitably flex as the model adapts to market forces.
Why Our Relationship with the BFA Matters to Franchisors
We consider our relationship with the BFA to be vital if we are to guide best practices for our franchise clients.
However, we also work with the BFA to help promote ethical franchising and to help keep good franchisors at the forefront of the franchise market.
